When I bought my house I assumed finding furniture would be easy: “Love that! Wrap it up! Ooh, the perfect bedroom set – done! Why yes, I’ll take that couch, that rug and that side table – and the house is finished!” I don’t know what fairyland I was living in, but that was surely not how it went. To the contrary, a year after moving in, nothing had been bought and I was still using my 10 year old college furniture. I had visited what felt like every single furniture store in the state of Florida, I was convinced, there was literally nothing for me. Everything was either too small, too cheap, too brown, too white, too much stitching, too much shine, too… you name it, it just wasn’t a match. Until finally visiting Crate and Barrel and lemme tell you, this store finally got me! It was love at first sight when I found the Lounge II – 2 Piece Sectional Sofa. It was exactly what I was looking for, sleek, clean lines, simple, modern, and the perfect color of grey that I was looking for. Now at this price tag, you might be saying, “Amanda.. are you crazy?” But slow down sister and hear me out. This is the most well-made couch I have come across in all my couch hunting journeys. There are no visible seams that are in danger of tearing, the cushions come off for easy cleaning, the fabric is extremely durable, it is sturdy, and, even though this comes in two parts, it interlocks with some pretty nifty hardware so it never comes unattached unless you really make an effort. The woven wool fabric makes it really easy to go with just about anything and it makes it really easy to mask any stains should they happen. The ONLY complaint I have so far is that it is made with down feathers and I’m beginning to notice them popping out occasionally. I’ll feel a poke here and there but I either push it back in or yank it out and throw it away. I don’t really see it becoming an issue.
Also, this couch is easily customized. I ordered mine with the chaise and it can go on either side of the couch. But remember once you decide which side, and you make your order, it can’t just be flipped to the other side, so make sure you think about that one! It also comes in a variety of great colors – three of which are stock colors, so they are less expensive and are usually stocked in their warehouse. The other colors are made to order so it takes about seven to nine weeks if one of these is right for you. I went with the Taft Steel and not only do I love the color but its an extremely durable fabric.
One last extremely important thing to note is, in this age of overseas support and automated systems in place to handle customers, I really have to say Crate and Barrel really treats their customers phenomenally. My calls and questions are always answered right away, I speak to a human, and the human usually puts my concerns at ease when I have questions about my purchase. When making an investment this large, I want to make sure that I’m not wasting my hard earned money and I never feel that I am getting ripped off my concerns are unheard. I must say, all of my concerns of “what if I have a problem” or what if I hate it when it arrives” are answered with a very logical, fair response. I never feel taken advantage of as a customer and that really means everything to me when I am making a purchase this large. Check out Crate and Barrel, they are on the pricey side but the quality and customer service makes it beyond worth it!
I also went to Crate and Barrel to help me upgrade my office space. If you’re interested in reading how I made some small changes for a more comfortable work environment, read “How I Created a Beautiful Space I Love Working In”
