Get The Scoop at Ben and Jerry’s in Vermont
The first stop in order to create some gram envy is to head over to the Ben and Jerry’s factory in Waterbury Vermont. This is just one of the factories and its actually smaller than you expect, the tour only lasts about 15 minutes so expect a pretty quick stop. And you can’t actually take photos while on the tour. But there are some really cute photo ops around the property, like the playground and in the flavor graveyard where discontinued flavors remain at their eternal resting place. You can’t go all the way to Vermont and not stop at Ben and Jerry’s so pull over, grab an ice cream and take some cute photos for the gram!
Sip Cider, Snag a Donut and Stroll The Cold Hollow Cider Mill in Vermont
For a true New England experience, to share to your Instagram, you MUST visit the Cold Hollow Cider Mill. There’s so much here, you can easily spend a few hours taking photos around this beautiful property and sipping hot apple cider with apple cider donuts on a outside. You also must make sure you peruse the expansive shop for some local Vermont goodies to take home: jams, jellys, spices, butter, honey, cheese, the list goes on! Bonus: If you’re a little hungrier or looking for a boozier option, make your way over to the Apple Core Luncheonette just across the property for breakfast, lunch and hard cider tasting. I could easily have spent half the day here wandering the shop and filling up on awesome food, cider, and donuts all day.
Snag Some Brews and Views at von Trapp Brewing in Vermont
What trip to New England is complete without a visit to von Trapp Brewing in Stowe, Vermont. von Trap Brewing is a gorgeous brewery created by the youngest son of Maria and the Baron. We stopped here for a Bavarian pretzel with beer cheese and some Austrian food and it did not disappoint! Not to mention, how cool it is that this place is owned by one of the Sound of Music’s own von Trapp family member?! The restaurant is beautiful but if you’re not done taking in the fall foliage don’t fret, there is a biergarten outside to get those Instagram shots with your brews and views!

See Moss Glenn Waterfall in Stowe Vermont
This is a fairly short hike, it only took us about 30 minutes to get to the waterfall. When we finally got to the waterfall, it was quick a steep uphill climb, but this was very short! Just be prepared with sneakers at least, I read somewhere that this was easy and short, so I wore booties, not smart! Once you complete this quick hike, you’ll see this beautiful 125 foot waterfall! You will surely get some beautiful photographs here, this waterfall is truly stunning.
Explore Lost River Gorge and Boulder Caves in New Hampshire
The Lost River Gorge and Boulder Caves hike in the White Mountains New Hampshire was an awesome little trek along a wooden boardwalk trail. This 1 mile trail takes you through magnificent boulder caves that you can explore. This was such a cool hike because we learned that the Ice Age had created this cave network so it was interesting to see how high the water once flowed and how it created these amazing rock formations. Continuing through the boardwalk we followed the water upstream for views of breathtaking waterfalls and expansive views of the White Mountains. And bonus, the boardwalk made this a super easy hike because you’re walking on stairs with a railing instead of maintaining a footing on rocks or a dirt path. So we were able to focus on the amazing sights and read about the history along the way instead of not tripping on a rough terrain! And if the caves concern you, don’t worry, you don’t have to go through any of the caves to continue on the path. They’re just little side paths that you can go down and explore and then get back on the path when you’re done. There were a few that looked far too small for me, so I skipped them and continued on!
Hike Franconia Notch State Park in New Hampshire
Franconia Notch State Park is located in the heart of the White Mountain National Forest in New Hampshire. This hike begins by taking you through the Flume Gorge. It was amazing to be surrounded by these towering rock walls. Continuing along the river through the gorge we saw some awesome waterfalls and quaint covered bridges. We continued along the Franconia Ridge Trail (also the Appalachian Trail) for amazing expansive views of the White Mountains. We spent a few hours here and I have to say it was extremely well worth the afternoon. The views were spectacular and with every turn it was another beautiful sight to behold.
Wander Billings Farm and Museum in Vermont
The Billings Farm and Museum was not a planned stop on this trip, but driving by we saw the CUTEST cows and I intended to just run out for a quick photo. But this adorable farm called me in to wander around. Glancing at an itinerary for the day, we saw that, “Meet the Sheep” was just about to start, so stay and meet the sheep we did! I didn’t expect to love wandering around this farm as much as I did. The animals were the most beautiful and happy that I’ve ever seen. The rolling scenery and beautiful barns were a photographer’s dream. I had a total blast. There were adorable fall finishing touches tucked around the property plus there was fresh ice cream and, – surprise – more hot apple cider! I honestly didn’t want to leave. And I was interested in the history of this place as well. Billings Farm and Museum was established in 1871 by Frederick Billings, a native Vermonter known for his work as a lawyer, railroad builder, and pioneer in scientific farm management and reforestation. The museum was beautifully created and extremely interesting. I actually wished I had more time here

Taftsville Covered Bridge
Built in 1836, the Taftsville Covered Bridge this adorable red covered bridge spans the Ottaquechee River in Windsor County. The Bridge connects Route 4 in Taftsville and River Road. I love the intricate design of the inside of this bridge, I wished I slowed down to frame this one a bit better (this is a working bridge and cars often pass through it, so be careaful) but I still love it.
Quechee Covered Bridge
This covered bridge might not be so colorful and vibrant on the outside, but the view from the walkway is stunning, I loved taking photos from the walkway and over to the river below. It was just such a quaint sight.
Sleepy Hollow Farm in South Pomfret, Vermont
Sleepy Hollow Farm is a private residence but photographers are welcome to stop by a photograph this picturesque red barn nestled in a beautiful valley of sweeping fall leaves and foliage The Sleepy Hollow Farm address is 3429 Cloudland Road in South Pomfret, located just a 10-minute drive from Woodstock. And this amazing VW Bug is right along the same road and I definitely made my travel buddy stop short so I can shoot it! I love the way the van looks against the orange leaves! Remember to please be respectful and courteous while getting your photos, so that admirers may be welcome for years to come.
Jenne Farm in Reading, Vermont
Jenne Farm in Reading Vermont is another beautiful stop to take in the gorgeous fall scenery. It is located on 1270 Jenne Road and as you take this side road uphill it might feel like you’re taking an incorrect strange turn, but then the view opens up to this breathtaking valley with red barns and beautiful fall colors below. We were lucky enough to witness a rainbow when we were there. It really is a magical spot to stop, take some photos and just appreciate the beautiful scenery. Please remember this is private property and there are multiple signs warning you to stay off the grass. So enjoy this view from the road and please be respectful.
The Oxford House Inn in Fryeburg, Maine
At the last minute, we decided to just drive a little further for the fun of adding Maine to our trip, just because. We crossed the border into Maine and got very lucky and found this spot behind the Oxford House Inn. Because this wasn’t during working hours, the physical therapy office next to it was empty, we parked there and walked behind the building to check out this amazing view. Lucky for us, the guests at the Bed and Breakfast that were outside enjoying this view were extremely friendly and we had a nice time chatting with them. But remember this is private property and just be respectful of that fact when you visit.
